PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KATV) — Former University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Chancellor Dr. Laurence B. Alexander and his wife, Veronica, have established a new endowed scholarship to support students pursuing degrees in Journalism and Education.
The $25,000 fund, named the "Laurence and Veronica Alexander Endowment for Excellence in Multimedia Communication," aims to nurture a new generation of student journalists and educators.
The endowment will assist with educational-related expenses in the UAPB Department of Multimedia Communication.
It includes curriculum upgrades, support for both traditional and non-traditional students and faculty, staff development, professional growth, and recruitment incentives.
UAPB Vice Chancellor for Advancement George Cotton, Sr. expressed his admiration for the Alexanders' initiative:
The University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees has honored Dr. Laurence Alexander with the title of Chancellor Emeritus.
Dr. Alexander departed UAPB in July 2024 to assume the role of Chancellor at The University of Michigan-Flint Campus.
