
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) ā Allen County students preparing to become teachers have been awarded the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship, local lawmakers announced.
This scholarship provides up to $10,000 annually, totaling up to $40,000, to high-achieving students committed to teaching in Indiana schools for five years.
“These young Hoosiers are embracing a vital calling in public service,” State Rep. Martin Carbaugh said. “I commend their dedication to starting their teaching journeys here in Indiana.”
This year, a record-breaking 1,091 students applied for the scholarship, with nearly 300 awarded. Local recipients include:
“Watching local students achieve this milestone is truly inspiring,” State Rep. Dave Heine said. “Iām proud of their dedication and excited to see the impact these future educators will have in our classrooms and communities.”
State Rep. Chris Judy emphasized the scholarship’s significance, saying, “This scholarship is a meaningful investment in students who are passionate about education.”
