Foundation awards first scholarships to local graduates – San Marcos Record

SAN MARCOS CHAMBER FOUNDATION
The newly formed San Marcos Chamber Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting community and workforce development, proudly announced the awarding of scholarships to three graduating seniors from San Marcos High School. Each student received a $1,000 scholarship, made possible through generous contributions from the Foundation’s inaugural group of founding partners.
The San Marcos Chamber Foundation was created as an affiliate of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce to channel charitable donations into high-impact initiatives that strengthen the local economy, workforce and community. The Foundation focuses on developing the future workforce and fostering a business-friendly climate.
“Our vision is to invest in our young people and partnerships that will benefit San Marcos for generations,” said Thomas Curtis, San Marcos Chamber Foundation president. “It’s incredibly meaningful to award these first scholarships and see the foundation already making a difference. I and my fellow board members are honored to be part of something that will create [a] long-term, lasting impact for students, families and local businesses.”
The 2025 scholarships were awarded during the annual San Marcos High School Scholarship Cere- mony on May 19. In addition to the scholarships, the Foundation also contributed to the Superintendent’s Award winners.
The Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to its Founding Partners, whose early investment made this meaningful start possible: Chuck Nash Auto Group, Frost Bank, Texas State University, John Navarette, Corridor Title Company, Divided Sky Roofing & Solar, McCoy’s Building Supply and La Cima San Marcos.
These organizations form the Founders Circle, a distinguished group of donors who contribute $10,000 or more to launch and sustain the San Marcos Chamber Foundation’s work. The foundation will be applying for grants to fund vital programs, and many grants are matching or reimbursable. Funds are needed to launch projects, and that is why these founding partners are essential to the foundation’s efforts.
With the Foundation’s website now live at SMTXfoundation.org, the community is invited to learn more and join this mission. Contributions of all sizes help support programs that build a stronger, more connected San Marcos.
