Foundation for Cultural Exchange celebrates 21 years with El Salvador sister city – KKCO 11 News

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The Foundation for Cultural Exchange will celebrate 21 years working with its sister city, El Espino in El Salvador, with a fundraiser on Saturday, November 1.
The fundraiser will take place at the Lincoln Park Tower Hospitality Suite from 6 to 10 p.m. Money raised from the event will go toward scholarships for students in and around El Espino to attend high school and continue to college.
“The exciting part of this is we’ll have a special guest from El Salvador. This is one of our students from the scholarship program who graduated and is now thriving and working, working to both better his home and his community. He’ll be here to be able to talk directly about the impact that these scholarships have in the community,” said Anna Stout, Foundation for Cultural Exchange.
“The idea for the scholarship program was not ours. It was the community that came to us and said, What we really need is for our children to be able to go to high school and then to be able to get an education to then come back and be able to invest in the community,” Stout said.
The event will feature authentic Hispanic food vendors and artwork from El Salvadorian artists. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Ticket purchases include two drink tickets, pupusas, and more.
