NAPA, CA — The Napa Parks and Recreation Foundation announced its full-year contributions for 2024, including $25,000 for playground infrastructure improvements and another $15,000 in scholarships to provide swimming lessons to local children through the City of Napa Parks and Recreation Services Department.
The NPRF also announced it will increase its swim scholarship funding to $25,000 in 2025 and secured a $45,000 grant through the Delong Sweet Family Foundation to provide further support.
“2024 was one of our most successful years in terms of increasing our level of support for the Napa community,” said NPRF Executive Director Kent Anderson. “Through our partnership with the City of Napa Parks and Recreation Services department, we provided much-needed financial support and recreation opportunities for local families.”
The Foundation said its ability to increase its scholarship funding in 2025 and 2026 was made possible by a grant from the Delong-Sweet Family Foundation and Pacific Gas & Electric Company.
“Knowing how to swim can be a life-saving skill for children of all ages,” Anderson said. “That’s why it’s one of the NPRF’s key initiatives every year. We thank the Delong-Sweet Family Foundation and PG&E for their contribution to the community.”
The Napa Parks and Recreation Foundation was founded in 1988. The organization advocates for the city’s park system and fundraises for unfunded recreational programs, community events, park improvements and youth scholarships for low-income families living in Napa.
In 2024, the Foundation also:
“The Napa Parks and Recreation Foundation is committed to making a difference,” said Kevin Hansen, NPRF board president. “As we look forward to 2025, we invite everyone in our community to donate their time, money or other resources to support these vital programs.”
