Main Street Community Foundation
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A regional foundation that serves Southington is reminding residents that there is some money available to help with college expenses.
Students in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, and Wolcott are invited to submit applications for financial support from over 95 scholarship funds administered by the Bristol-based Main Street Community Foundation.
These scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors, current college students, and adult learners who are or will be attending career certification programs, technical or vocational schools, or two or four-year colleges or universities.
There are also scholarships available for students attending elementary and secondary private schools in Bristol.
The deadline for all scholarship applications is March 7 at 11:59p.m.
Each scholarship has unique eligibility criteria defined by the donors who established the funds.
Criteria can include items such as interests and career goals, academic achievement, financial need, and town residence.
All applications are reviewed by a volunteer committee through a competitive, blinded application process, and recommendations on recipients are made to the foundation’s board of directors based on the established criteria of each fund.
A full list of available scholarships, their eligibility criteria, and the link to the online application portal are available on the MSCF website: mainstreetfoundation.org/apply-for-scholarship .
