The Foundation Trust for Trenton High School and the THS Alumni Association boards voted August 31 to support requests from the Trenton R-9 administration during their joint annual meeting. Secretary Steve Maxey said the requests included improvements to the high school greenhouse and updates to the high school athletic record boards.
A new scholarship funded by the Marvin and Jackie Sharp Trust was announced and approved. The boards also approved revisions to the Robert Graham McVay Scholarship, expanding the award from two graduating seniors to four.
Maxey noted that the amounts designated for the greenhouse, record boards, and scholarships will be determined later.
Board officers were reelected for another term. Kevin Bailey will continue as president, Dr. John Holcomb as vice president, Maxey as secretary, Dr. Beverly Hooker as assistant secretary, and Katie Kinney as treasurer.
New board member Teresa McNabb Steinhoff will take over database management duties previously handled by Holcomb.
Members also voted to meet on November 16 to begin planning for the 2026 alumni reunion.
Maxey reported that hundreds of alumni attended the Trenton High School Alumni Reunion Weekend. He added that several honor classes drew strong participation, with the 50-year class of 1975 hosting more than 100 classmates and guests. Other classes also reported large turnouts.
