Emma Pearce of Four Oaks has won the 2025 Sue Archambeault Memorial Scholarship, presented at UNC Health Johnston to a student interested in a health care career.
Bruce Archambeault of Four Oaks awards the $1,000 scholarship every year in memory of his wife, Sue, a retired schoolteacher and volunteer at the Smithfield hospital.
“Sue was passionate about education and helping the hospital meet the needs of patients,” said April Culver, vice president of external affairs. “While serving as president of the volunteers, she boosted our fundraising efforts so we could offer even more scholarships to deserving students.”
Pearce, a recent graduate of South Johnston High School, is passionate about serving others too. As a junior volunteer at the hospital, she helped the Johnston Health Foundation with its programs for patients. Pearce has also volunteered at a local nursing home and with the Miracle League, where she helped special needs students play baseball.
Pearce will attend UNC-Wilmington in the fall, with plans to pursue a degree in nursing. Her parents are David and Jaime Pearce of Four Oaks.
