STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — The 2nd Annual Frank Colalella Charitable Golf Outing is set to take place on Sept. 12 at the Steubenville Country Club.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the outing starting at 9 a.m.
Colalella, who passed away two years ago from liver cancer, is remembered through the foundation established in his name. The foundation awards scholarships to high school seniors who excel academically and demonstrate a strong work ethic, reflecting Colalella's values.
"Frank was a dear friend. He never met a stranger," Ray Saccoccia, a member of the foundation committee, said. "His attitude and his heart was everybody deserves a second chance which tells everything about Frank and the biggest thing we are humbled. We are humbled as a committee for the generosity that has been shown to our foundation over the past two years.
"We are up around to $90,000 so we are going to be able to give scholarships to area high school seniors for a long time in Frank’s name and I think you would be happy."
"We are really proud that we are able to continue Cole’s legacy by helping students who are going on to further their education and hopefully going on to be entrepreneurial like him and make a big impact in the world," Paul Carapellotti, a trustee board member, said.
The event will also honor Rick Alessi, another friend who passed away last year, with a dedication at the 2nd hole.
