Fundraiser for endowed scholarship to be held on November 8 – Alachua Chronicle

Press release from the Tee Foundation Assistance Network
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On November 8, we invite you to come munch at our endowed scholarship fundraiser brunch. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to great food, there will be amazing entertainment, recognition awards, prizes, and an inspiring message delivered by Comm. Charles “Chuck” Chestnut. This event is presented by Tee Foundation Assistance Network, Inc., The Ruth and Walter Jenkins family, and Minnie and Samuel Wheeler family. It raises funds for the Tiawana Michele Wheeler Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund at Bethune Cookman University (B-CU). In addition to the surprising fact that Tiawana attended the same elementary school as Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos, River Oaks Elementary in Houston, TX, you will learn other interesting information about this phenomenal young woman who came into this life Nov. 9, 1969, and departed July 12, 1991.
Your generosity last year helped us raise $10,250. Please help us increase the fund by at least that much this year.
Higher education is necessary and very valuable. You also know that available resources to fund post-secondary education have declined considerably because of stagnant wages, rising costs, and cuts to valuable governmental education assistance programs. The education resource shortage is also true because of the unprecedented challenges to education and DEI in today’s America. If you or your child(ren) depended on financial aid scholarships while in college, you would want to help support this effort and encourage your child to do the same. We particularly reach out for support from B-CU alumnae and staff as well as other HBCU graduates and staff for support. Endowments at HBCUs are a critical need; your financial support for our effort will help meet that need. Increasing the size of the endowment will increase available scholarship funds for eligible Alachua County residents. An endowment lives perpetually and is therefore the gift that keeps on giving because it generates income to fund scholarships year after year. Thus, its money at work for us, instead of us always having to work for the money.
Please get your ticket today and attend our Endowed Scholarship Brunch being held at Pastor Tyrone A. Blue-led First Missionary Baptist Church, 1515 NE 15th Street, Gainesville, FL 32641. You will then feel the pride that comes from helping to grow HBCU endowments to help our youth get a college education.
Ticket donation prices are $50 per person. Either way, it is a small price to pay in support of educating our youth. But don’t just stop with the price of a ticket to the brunch, dig deep and send an increased contribution today… don’t wait.
Remember, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste™.” Even if you can’t come, please donate.
Sponsorships are also available at your desired contribution level at or above $250. The highest contributing sponsorship received by November 1 will be recognized as this year’s presenting sponsor on our displayed Donor Board. Others will be supporting sponsors. Call or text Pat 352.459.8331 or email tfanserves@gmail.com for ticket, Cash App, Zelle, and Sponsor information. Can also mail to P.O. Box 357685, Gainesville, FL 32635. Thank you.
