A recent P.S. Someone Cares’s annual Casino Royale fundraiser.
P.S. Someone Cares’s annual Casino Royale fundraiser will be Saturday, May 3, 7-10 p.m. at the Elks Club in Escondido, 2430 S. Escondido Blvd.
Festivities will include appetizers, desserts, casino music and a silent auction.
Peggy Seymour, founder of P.S. Someone Cares, told The Times-Advocate: “Joe & Francesca Busalacchi are doing the appetizers. I’m having fun with the desserts.” The sweets will include lemon tarts, peanut butter and chocolate tarts, Texas Cake and many kinds of cupcakes.
Auction items include a surf board, baskets with gift certificates for different restaurants, and an overnight stay in La Jolla with places to eat. There will also be art baskets and kitchen baskets.
Casino games will be familiar, such as black jack, craps and roulette.
“Since it’s a casino theme, we are encouraging people to dress up and have fun with that,” said Seymour.
She added, “We hope to have five ladies there to receive a $2,000 scholarship apiece.” The scholarships go to nursing home students who are also stay-at-home parents. So far, P.S. Someone Cares has given away 28 scholarships totaling $60,000. They range from $2,000 to $4,000.
One hundred percent of funds raised go to scholarships. “It’s all volunteers, sponsors and donations,” said Seymour. “If there is money in the bank I’d prefer to give it away.”
Peggy Seymour founded P.S. Someone Cars in 2017, and the first scholarship was given in 2018. “I was a labor and delivery nurse for 26 years,” she explained. “Several board members are also nurses.
Cost is $60 in advance, $75 at the door. You can donate to this cause, buy tickets to the May 3 event and look at photos of previous events by visiting www.pssomeonecares.org.
