VERONA — The Andrew D. Rossetti Scholarship Fund Committee recently awarded $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors who attend Career and Technical Education programs at Madison-Oneida BOCES and plan to pursue careers in teaching.
Kendall Musch, from Camden, plans to study elementary education at St. Bonaventure University. She completed the Early Childhood Education program at MOBOCES. She is the daughter of Jed and Kristina Musch of Camden.
Sydney Owens, from Canastota, plans to study music education at SUNY Fredonia. She completed the New Visions Professions program at MOBOCES. She is the daughter of Jessie-Jo and Gregory Owens of Canastota.
The Rossetti Scholarships, awarded this year on Wednesday, June 4, were created in 1988 to honor the late Andrew D. Rossetti, an Oneida resident and district superintendent of the Madison-Oneida BOCES from 1973 to 1984.
Rossetti, also a former Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School District superintendent, had a lifelong passion for teaching Rossetti’s wife, Lillian, presented the awards and spoke about the award’s namesake. MOBOCES District Superintendent Scott Budelmann and past scholarship recipients addressed the award winners and their families during the ceremony about the value of a career in education.
