Gala supports scholarships for Fruita students – kkco11news.com

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – On September 5, the Fruita Foundation hosted its first-ever gala. An event aimed at raising money to support scholarships and career pathways for local students.
The event, called the Monumental Lights Gala, was held at Monument Vista Place in Fruita, Colorado.
Organizers said proceeds from the evening go toward scholarships for Fruita students and help expand opportunities for young entrepreneurs. The foundation awards several scholarships each year in fields ranging from business to trade industries.
“The purpose of having this event is to help support our scholarship fund and further support our initiatives. We give out scholarships to five Fruita students every year with a business major, student services, FFA, certification programs, and trade industries,” said Kayla Bowers, President & CEO with the Fruita Chamber of Commerce.
Leaders said the money raised also helps fund new programs, like business workshops and potential internships with local employers, to help students gain hands-on experience.
The event sold out, and organizers said they are already planning for next year’s gala.
