Covington Electric Co-op (CEC) offers scholarships each year to deserving high school seniors to honor its commitment to education and community involvement. These scholarships are provided through the Electric Cooperative Foundation in Montgomery, which evaluates all applications and awards scholarships to students attending technical colleges and universities.
Applicants for the scholarship must be dependents of CEC members to apply. Details about the scholarships are publicized through Alabama Living, the CEC website, social media, and brochures.
CEC offers two $1,000 scholarships (one for a senior heading to college and one for a senior heading to technical college) at each high school served by the co-op. In addition to these scholarships, there are two $1,000 At-Large scholarships that are awarded to eligible high school seniors attending schools not served by CEC with the same guidelines.
The 2024 CEC Scholarship recipients are: Caroline Reeves, Andalusia High School; Briley Douglas and Hailey Ward, Pleasant Home School; Ella Rose Cooper and Baylee Smith, Kinston School; Haley Chance and Kennedy Lord, Red Level School; Colin Arnold, Elba High School; Emma Pugh and Williams Baxley, Straughn High School; and Kendal Nichols and Tyson Grant, Brantley School.
CEC is an electric distribution cooperative providing electric service to approximately 24,600 meters in parts of six counties including Covington, Coffee, Dale, Crenshaw, Geneva, and Escambia.
