Rochester, N.Y. — Several local students were recognized Wednesday for their outstanding academic achievements.
31 members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester were awarded this year's Eva and Vaughn Morgan Scholarships, celebrating strong leadership, community and academic skills.
"It can really change your life totally based on where you go to school," said Dwayne Mahoney, the clubs' executive director. "We've seen a lot of great results from kids who have switched to a more rigorous education, and the trajectory of their lives is just very different."

The annual celebration is also a time for students to look at future opportunities, inspire families and showcase the impact of community giving.
