Applications are now open for the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarships, offering exceptional students from across the globe—including all Arab countries—the opportunity to undertake fully funded postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge.
Established in 2000 with a landmark donation from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this internationally renowned programme supports individuals who demonstrate exceptional academic ability, strong leadership potential, and a deep commitment to improving the lives of others.
The Gates Cambridge Scholarships provide comprehensive financial support. They cover full tuition fees, a maintenance allowance (currently set at £21,000 for 12 months for 2024–25), travel costs to and from the UK, visa application fees, the Immigration Health Surcharge, and an arrival allowance. Most awards fund full- or part-time Ph.D. programmes, while a smaller number support one-year master’s-level courses such as the M.Litt. Certain business and medical degrees are not eligible.
Each year, around 80 scholarships are awarded: approximately 25 to applicants from the United States and 55 to candidates from the rest of the world. Scholars join a vibrant international community at Cambridge, benefiting from world-class academic resources, mentorship, events, and leadership development opportunities. After graduation, they become part of an influential global alumni network of more than 1,700 members driving positive change in their fields and communities.
Applicants must be citizens of countries outside the UK, meet the academic and English language requirements for their chosen course, and apply via the University of Cambridge Graduate Application Portal.
Deadlines: 15 October 2025 for U.S. citizens resident in the U.S., and 2 December 2025 or 7 January 2026 for all other applicants, depending on the course.
