Genting Malaysia 2025 scholarships focus on low-income students to give them chances for local or overseas university places – GGRAsia

Global casino operator Genting Malaysia Bhd has launched the 2025 edition of its Scholarship Programme. The initiative began in 2006, to help Malaysians aged 23 or below seeking admission to a full-time undergraduate programme at either a local university or one overseas.
The firm’s priority is to help young people from lower-income backgrounds, it said in a July 30 announcement about this year’s scheme. The application period for the 2025 Scholarship Programme is now open and will close on August 15, the company said.
“At Genting Malaysia, we are proud to play a part in empowering talented young Malaysians to pursue their academic goals and build a better future for themselves and their communities,” said deputy president at Genting Malaysia Bhd, Lee Thiam Kit, in prepared remarks.
Applicants must achieve a minimum of three ‘A’s in Malaysian High School Certificate exams or in A-Level exams. Alternatively, they can qualify for consideration by attaining a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in diploma or foundation programmes; or, have equivalent achievements in other recognised pre-university qualifications.
Genting Malaysia Bhd said priority would be given to scholarship applicants from households earning below RM10,000 (US$2,361) per month, and who are not currently receiving any other scholarships or financial assistance.
The company also mentioned it would consider candidates’ involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership roles and a “commitment to personal growth”.
The scholarship programme is aimed to help Malaysian students to pursue studies in the academic fields, including hospitality, engineering, information technology, and business.
