ATLANTA — A Georgia high school senior is racing into a bright future!
Kendra Collier, 17, of Winder, Georgia, attends Loganville Christian Academy and is about to graduate with her high school class on May 18. She has been accepted into more than 30 universities and colleges with over $1 million in scholarships!
“I was just really happy. I was excited that all those schools wanted to consider me to go to their school,” Kendra said, when she started to receive her acceptance letters.
Among Kendra’s extensive scholarship offers, she has been accepted into Auburn, Clemson, Spelman College, and the University of South Carolina. She has chosen to attend Samford University near Birmingham, Alabama.
“I was proud, you know, all of her hard work has paid off… I felt like everything was just coming together and I felt extremely proud of her,” Kendra’s mom, Kesha Collier, said.
In 2022, Kendra’s dad was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia; he is now in remission.
“That was really tough,” Kendra said. “I was determined to keep my grades up in order to honor him.”
“Every day we would drive an hour to see him,” Kesha added. “She was able to keep strong and keep her grades up… I’m proud of her sweet spirit.”
Now, Kendra wants to major in environmental science, become a wildlife biologist, and open up her own wildlife rehabilitation center. She said working with animals is her dream.

In addition to Kendra’s academic achievements, she is part of the National Honor Society, the National Beta Club, captain of her high school’s color guard team and has worked with the Young Black Leadership Alliance.
Kendra is also an English equestrian, and her experience horseback riding inspired her to write her first children’s book: “Amber’s Equestrian Alphabet,” as part of her senior project.
She said the book is dedicated to introducing young readers to horseback riding while promoting literacy and increasing diversity within equestrianism.
“Luckily, they (Samford) have an equestrian program, so I get to ride horses there, which is what I’m very excited about,” Kendra added.
