MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Republic of Ghana paid another $1 million on their debt to the University of Memphis, the U of M told FOX13.
It’s the second $1 million payment the Republic of Ghana has made to the U of M in two weeks. That money goes toward the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat program.

In July, 185 students at the U of M faced dismissal due to Ghana’s outstanding debt. The money provided by the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat program covers those students’ tuition and other expenses while they study abroad at the university.
With the second payment, Ghana’s debt is now down to $1.35 million, according to the U of M. A spokesperson for the university said that the remaining balance is due by October 15.
