TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tuesday night saw the return of the Giovanni Vitrano Foundation scholarship dinner as three Tallahassee area soccer stars were awarded $10,000 in scholarship funds with all three of the 2024 recipients being female for the first time ever.
Meghan Roper of Leon High School and Maclay’s Lawre Bradley May both received $2,000 scholarships, while Florida High’s Martina Silva was selected to receive the Foundation’s $6,000 scholarship.
“I was really happy that all the hard work on the field and off the field was able to pay off for me for my future,” said Silva who was initially overcome with emotion receiving the honor. “This award money is a really big help.” Silva is enrolling at the University of Florida and hopes to study biology.
“When you look at the girls, these scholar athletes, the talent in this room, you can’t help but get excited,” said Foundation President Ron Vitrano. “You the the scholarships are going to help do great things for all three of these athletes.”
