FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield-Suisun Rotary Club recently awarded five “Ready to Succeed” program scholarships to teens in Fairfield PAL.
The recipients are Diego Arista Rosales, Rasheed Mosby, La’Maya Jo’Nique Lashay Cornelison, Gael Emiliano Perez Valencia and Rene Ramirez Vega.
“This recognition is more than just financial support – it’s a powerful vote of confidence in the potential of these young leaders,” Rotarian Joan Lovell said.
Each scholar is eligible to receive up to $4,000 per year for two years to support their pursuit of higher education or career training – totaling as much as $8,000 in scholarships per student.
They join Brandon Angulo, who began the program early and has already completed his electrician training. Angulo recently entered the workforce, making him the program’s newest success story.
“These students earned the honor after completing a full year of weekly classes at the Fairfield PAL Teen Center. The Rotary’s Ready to Succeed Program is designed to help local youth build strong foundations for their futures through self-discovery and personal development; CliftonStrengths assessments; career exploration and goal setting; real-world skill-building and public speaking; and career-focused capstone project with local professionals,” organizers said.
The program culminates in a formal interview process with a panel of Rotarians who select deserving graduates for scholarship awards.
This is the ninth year for the program. It has helped PAL graduates launch careers as teachers, EMTs, electricians, police officers, pastors and more.
“The impact of this program extends far beyond the classroom – it is changing lives and building a stronger, more connected community,” organizers added.
