Around 5,200 students graduated from Jefferson County schools this year. Here are some statistics the Jeffco Schools administration culled from the school principals around Jefferson County.
According to the data provided by principals of Jeffco schools, 10 schools reported scholarship earnings of a million dollars or more. Each of the following graduating classes has earned a million dollars or more in college scholarships:
The National Merit Scholarship program has been administered nationally since 1955 by the nonprofit, National Merit Scholarship Corporation. According to the scholarship website, students compete for college scholarships and academic recognition. Here are the 11 Jeffco National Merit Finalists and Scholars.
Of the schools reporting valedictorians, Lakewood High School’s graduating class had the most. All 16 students earned a 4.0 GPA, according to Lakewood High principal Daniel Bock. He explained that 15 of those students graduated with International Baccalaureate degrees
They are:
Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment and Teacher Recruitment Education and Preparation are two scholarship programs funded and created by the Colorado Department of Education. Of the 242 graduates participating in the ASCENT program, 228 are from Jeffco public high schools and 14 students are from Jeffco’s charter schools. Eleven students are participating in TREP.
The Daniels Fund Scholarship is a competitive nationally administered program for graduating seniors. The fund seeks to honor future ambitious leaders.
According to the Boettcher Fund webpage, the scholarship is given to seniors to keep “dynamic thinkers, doers, and difference makers to stay in Colorado so they can positively impact their communities.” The Boettcher Fund offers scholarship funds and other opportunities to recipients.
