The Department of National Defence, through the Sexual Misconduct Support and Resource Centre (SMSRC), has announced a new funding opportunity aimed at strengthening support for individuals affected by sexual misconduct within the defence community.
This initiative brings community organizations and Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) support services closer together, fostering collaboration to better support current and former service members, veterans, Cadets, Junior Canadian Rangers, public service staff, their families, supporters, and caregivers aged 16 and over.
The grant program offers flexibility and scale to meet diverse needs. Organizations may apply for one-time project-based grants of up to $50,000 or opt for recurring grants up to $75,000 per year, spanning two to three years. This structure enables both short-term initiatives and longer-term programs to flourish, depending on community needs and organizational capacity.
Eligibility is open to legally incorporated, community-based, not-for-profit organizations across Canada that are able to enter into a formal grant agreement with the Government of Canada. This inclusivity ensures that a wide range of service providers—from local support groups to larger national nonprofits—can participate in enhancing service delivery and outreach.
This funding is a meaningful opportunity to build a stronger, more resilient network of care that respects, supports, and empowers survivors of sexual misconduct across the country.
