The Greater Alliance Foundation has announced a group of scholarships available for 2025.
According to Heidi McClung, executive director of the foundation, the scholarships support local students to achieve their educational goals while catering to a wide range of interests and needs.
ATHENA Scholarship. The ATHENA/Woman of the Year Scholarship is a $1,000, one-time award for a female high school senior who demonstrates community involvement, academic achievement and leadership. Sponsored by the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce, eligible applicants must reside in the Alliance City, Marlington Local, West Branch Local or Sebring Local school districts and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applications are due by Jan. 31. Apply at greateralliancefoundation.org/athena-scholarship-app.
June and Lloyd Carlile Scholarship. Students graduating from Marlington High School who have a cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher can apply. The scholarship, intended for post-secondary education, is a $2,000 award renewable for up to four years. Applications are due by April 1. Carnation City Players Education Award. The scholarship supports students passionate about theatre arts. High school seniors with experience in Alliance-area community or school theater productions are encouraged to apply. The award is intended for post-secondary education and could have an award value of up to $1,000. Applications are due by March 1. Hometown Heroes Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is open to seniors who are children of veterans or active-duty military members residing in and graduating from Alliance, Marlington Local, Sebring Local or West Branch Local school districts. Applications are due by March 30. Apply at greateralliancefoundation.org/hometown-heroes-scholarship.
Sarah Stanley Memorial Scholarship. This $4,000 scholarship, renewable over two years, honors the legacy of Sarah Stanley, a Stark County 4-H member and artist. Graduating seniors or homeschooled students pursuing careers in agriculture or fine arts are eligible. Applications are due by Aug. 1.
