Marshalltown High School senior Sam Greazel has been named 2025 recipient of the Al and Donna Hoop Memorial Scholarship.
The memorial is a $1,300 award that has been given annually to a Bobcat baseball player by longtime coach and program supporter Al Hoop, who passed away in 2024.
Coach Hoop, who grew up in Marshalltown and graduated from MHS, was personally involved with the Bobcat baseball program for more than 25 years. This award, which bears Al and his late wife Donna’s names, has been presented to a Bobcat baseball player since 2016.
Greazel has been a member of the MHS varsity baseball team for the past five seasons and, during that time, has played in over 160 games for the Bobcats. Next fall Sam will attend Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, where he will study fire science technology.
Sam is the son of Bianca Bennett and Lance Greazel.
