Green Diamond Resource Company has announced the 11 students in the company’s California Timberlands who received this year’s Mark E. Reed Scholarship.
The 11 recipients are employees, spouses or children of employees that work for Green Diamond and students in the company’s California operating areas.
The 11 California students selected for $3,000 scholarships are: Sierra Paliaga, University of California at Davis; Julie Lanning, Cal Poly Humboldt; Allison McCray, Oklahoma State University; Annie Lanning, Cal Poly Humboldt; Aquila Selene Phelps-Gellman, Cal Poly Humboldt; Emma Martin, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; Twyla Sherman, San Diego State University; Ava Tempelaere, The University of Washington; Jude Ortega, The Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania; Agapit Perez, Cal Poly Humboldt; and Matthew Klopper – University of Idaho, Moscow Campus.
“These scholarships are great way to demonstrate the value we place on our staff, their families and the families that live in the areas where we have a large footprint,” said Peter Jackson, vice president and general manager for Green Diamond’s California Timberlands. “It’s always exciting to learn more about our employees, their families and our community members, celebrate them and, in the future, get an update on their career paths. It’s more than just a scholarship to Green Diamond; it’s an investment in the future.”
The scholarship program was established in 1947 in the memory of Mark E. Reed, who was Simpson Logging Company president from 1914 until his death in 1933.
Scholarship applications are open each year through the month of February. There are no restrictions for scholarship recipients as to race, age, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, veteran or marital status or sensory, mental or physical disability. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books or living expenses incurred while pursuing education beyond high school. During the academic year of the scholarship, award recipients must attend school full-time.
The application for the Mark E. Reed Scholarship program is available on the Green Diamond website at www.greendiamond.com and will reopen for next year’s applicants the first week of February 2026.
