The Grishkot Foundation has announced the awarding of $42,500 of new scholarships and $17,500 of continuing scholarships for 18 students from Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties.
The scholarships were presented on June 5 at a meeting of the Glens Falls Kiwanis Club at The Queensbury Hotel. The Grishkot Foundation partners with the Glens Falls Kiwanis Foundation to administer the scholarship application and review process, with The Grishkot Foundation making the final decision on awards.
This year six winners will receive the primary award totaling up to $10,000 in scholarship funds and five secondary winners will receive a one-time $2,500 scholarship award.
Joan Grishkot Memorial Scholarship recipients for careers in nursing and related healthcare fields are:
Jenna Smith acquired a bachelor’s degree from Empire State University and is currently a nursing student at SUNY Adirondack. She plans to continue her education to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

Founded in 2009, the scholarship distribution is possible due to a generous bequest from Joan Grishkot, the foundation’s co-founder. Joan Grishkot, who died July 8, 2021, was Warren County’s director of public health for 31 years.
