The Gulf Winds Foundation awarded $25,000 in scholarships this year to five outstanding students: Jacob Akers, Flomaton High School; Monessa McMillan, T.R. Miller High School; Breely Richardson, T.R. Miller High School; Lael Peterson, Jay High School; and Jessica Abraham, Fortis Institute, Pensacola. Each student received $5,000 to support their educational pursuits and aspirations.
Gulf Winds received 73 applications for their Scholarship Program, aimed at empowering students to achieve their higher education goals. Members of Gulf Winds Credit Union, along with their children and grandchildren, are eligible to apply. The committee comprised of Gulf Winds employees carefully reviewed each application, considering academic accomplishments, community involvement, personal essays, letters of recommendation, and financial need.
Since 2007, Gulf Winds has awarded $297,500 in scholarships to 75 students.
