HAMPTON, Ga. — A Hampton senior is making his family proud after earning more than $1.2 million in scholarship offers from colleges and universities across the nation.
Kameron Dillon McLendon, a senior at Dutchtown High School, has maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA throughout his academic journey.
According to his family, he has served as the Vice President of the Future Business Leaders of America and a member of the August Wilson Chapter of the National Honor Society.
He was also recognized as a Georgia Merit Scholar last year.
His family stated that in the fall, he will become an Emory University Eagle. He will major in chemistry, with the goal of “creating a healthier, more sustainable world.”
McLendon first got his love for STEM when he participated in Georgia Tech’s early STEM program in elementary school.
He then attended Cornell University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology summer programs.
His family stated that he has been deeply involved in his community, volunteering for the Atlanta Community Food Bank and other initiatives.
“With a strong academic foundation, a commitment to service, and a passion for innovation, Kameron is poised to carry forward his family’s proud legacy of excellence as he embarks on his next chapter,” his family said in a statement.
