This year, the Hancock County Democrats were pleased to award scholarships to three area high school seniors. The applications received from Hamilton, Illini West and Warsaw High Schools were of high quality and the decision was difficult. All of the winners were very active in their school and their community.
Erin Colvin, the daughter of Cynthia and Gregory Colvin, received the Hamilton High School scholarship. She will attend the Honors College at the University of Minnesota and major in philosophy. She plans to get a doctorate in this field and become a college professor.
Olivia Schaller, the daughter of Dina and Seth Schaller, received the Illini West scholarship. She will attend the University of Illinois at Chicago and major in communications. Her hope is to work as a sports journalist in the National Hockey League.
Renee Blunier, the daughter of Karen and Josef Blunier, received the Warsaw High School scholarship. Already an accomplished musician, she plans to attend Western Illinois University and study music performance.
We wish to thank all who applied and congratulations to our scholarship recipients.
– Arlis Dittmer, Secretary of the Hancock County Democrats
