HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Hastings Senior High held a National Signing Day ceremony in the gymnasium on Wednesday. Abbey Fish inked a National Letter of Intent with Xavier University for swimming.
Fish said she initially wanted to pursue softball, but was encouraged to go out for the swim team, which is a co-op between Hastings, Adams Central and St. Cecilia. Fish fell in love and began her pursuit of athletic excellence in the sport, leading to her commitment and signing with the Division I Musketeers.
“It just feels like a big reward for all of the hard work that I’ve put in and some of the hard work that not everybody sees,” Fish said. “Being able to represent the sport of Nebraska swimming at the Division I level is amazing. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and what Hastings High swimming has done for me personally and athletically, is something that I’ll never forget and I’m forever grateful for it.”
