Experimental Aircraft Association 1328 President Bryan Swank, left, recently presented Kolsyn Elijah Hatton with the organization’s second EAA Ray Scholarship.
Kolsyn Elijah Hatton was recently awarded the Experimental Aircraft Association 1328’s second EAA Ray Scholarship.
The scholarship is funded by the Ray Foundation and EAA 1328. It will pay for most of the flight instruction and airplane rental for him to earn his private pilot certificate.
Hatton had already started flight training and has been a hard-working young member of the chapter, one who is building a Vans RV-12 Experimental Aircraft.
The scholarship was designed to encourage youth chapter participation and give deserving young people a great opportunity to become a licensed pilot. Last year’s Ray Scholar was John Reen, who earned his private pilot certificate in last summer.
EAA 1328 has one more Ray Scholarship to award in 2024.
EAA 1328 holds meetings on the second Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. and also holds aircraft build nights on Mondays from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the North Vernon Airport.
