Hearts for Isabella is accepting applications for its annual scholarship award from eligible graduating high school students in the area affected by a congenital heart defect.
The Hearts For Isabella Memorial #CHD Scholarship Award was established in 2023 to honor the memory of Isabella Annelise Dombrowski, who on Feb. 3, 2020, lost her life at only three months old to complications of open heart surgery after being born with only half a heart.
To date, four scholarships have been pledged to local “heart warriors” in area communities.
For more information, and to submit your application by the May 1 deadline, email heartsforisabella@gmail.com.
To receive this scholarship, candidates must be specifically connected to the heart community based on a medical diagnosis of CHD themselves and/or specific involvement of cardiac pediatrics advancements in education practices based on the eligibility requirements below for consideration.
Eligibility requirements:
Hearts For Isabella is a 501©3 Non-Profit Organization created in memory of Isabella Annelise Dombrowski that helps raise awareness to Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) with combined hopes and support to the children and those living with CHD in our local communities.
HEARTRAISER EVENT SET FOR JUNE 7
The organization is also planning for its annual CHD HeartRaiser event, set for 3 to 9 p.m. June 7 at the Bolivar Golf Club, 8212 Route 5.
There will be tethered hot air balloon rides, plus a GLOW balloon, weather permitting; a golf tournament; live music; wine pull; 50/50 raffle; vendor craft show; a silent auction; raffle; kids’ paint event; face painting; drinks and pulled-pork dinners.
All proceeds go directly to support children and families affected by CHD, as well as organizations that support CHD and further research efforts. Funds will also go toward scholarships, sending children to Heart Camp and much more.
Volunteers and sponsors are still needed. For information, call (607) 661-7782 or email heartsforisabella@gmail.com.
