Scholarship program creates opportunities for students, teachers
MADISON, Wis. — High school seniors can apply for scholarships ranging between $1-1.5k thanks to the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Foundation scholarship. Telephone companies in the state sponsor this scholarship.
Eligible candidates receive a one-time $1500 scholarship or a one-time $1000 scholarship if attending a two-year technical college.
“Through the WSTF scholarship program, we aim to alleviate the financial burden of college for young adults in the communities we are honored to serve,” TDS State Government Affairs Manager, Angie Dickison said.
Those who are interested can apply online through the WSTF Scholarship website no later than Monday, Feb. 17 at 10:59 p.m.
Applications should include a headshot, high school transcripts, one letter of recommendation and an essay that is between 250-500 words.
Finalists are chosen based on grades, extracurricular activities and academic achievements. The scholarships will be presented at awards night programs or high school graduation ceremonies, depending on the school.
WSTF has awarded over $1.8 million in scholarships to almost 1,450 students since 1986.
