Seniors at Jones High School and Evans High School were awarded a scholarship for free college or technical education at Valencia College on April 9.
Every senior in the class of 2025 from Jones and Evans high schools is eligible to receive a scholarship that covers tuition and fees with no out-of-pocket costs. The scholarship can be applied toward an associate degree or hands-on technical training in programs such as healthcare, advanced manufacturing, construction, transportation and logistics. The application fee will also be waived.
To qualify, students must submit high school transcripts after graduation and enroll in at least one course in the Accelerated Skills Training program by spring 2026. Students must also complete the 2025–26 FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, using school code 006750, unless they are enrolled in an eligible program or have extenuating circumstances. In those cases, a waiver must be requested from Valencia’s Financial Aid Department.
The scholarship is funded through private donations to the Valencia College Foundation.
“The objective in launching this new scholarship fund at Evans and Jones high schools is to boost college-going rates for students in Orange County,” said Kathleen Plinske, Ph.D., president of Valencia College.
