Ammon News – Muhannad Al-Khatib, the media advisor for the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stated that the Scholarships Directorate of the Ministry will provide financial aid to graduates of public secondary schools in the four new districts created by the Cabinet – West Irbid in Irbid Governorate, Mu'ab in Karak Governorate, Bal'ama in Mafraq Governorate, and Ma'arad in Jerash Governorate.

Today, Tuesday, Al-Khatib stated that (Article “A”) of Annex No. The 2024 Student Support Fund System in Public Universities has been established according to Paragraph (L) of Article (4) of the Higher Education and Scientific Research Law No. Article 17 of 2018 states that “partial scholarships or loans are given based on the districts outlined in the current administrative divisions system, with an extra district included for students who have completed the equivalent of the Jordanian General Secondary Education Certificate within or outside of Jordan.”

In 2024, the University Student Support Fund System will distribute 200 partial scholarships to undergraduates, 150 to intermediate diploma students, and 350 loans. Additionally, each of the four districts will receive 6 full scholarships for top high school students, compared to other districts in the Kingdom.

Al-Khatib highlighted that the Ministry of Higher Education has approached the Ministry of Education to include the four new districts in the secondary school grades lists for the upcoming supplementary session 2024-2025, following the revised Administrative Divisions System for the year 2024. The Ministry of Higher Education has also asked for the inclusion of school names and numbers in the new districts, along with the names and national identification numbers of students who attended these schools in the previous academic year 2023-2024, to prepare for the implementation of Student Support Fund nominations for the academic year 2024-2025.
