The application period for scholarships offered by the Historical Society of Topsail Island is now open.
The application period for scholarships offered by the Historical Society of Topsail Island is now open.
The application for scholarships offered by the Historical Society of Topsail Island is now available online and at the counseling centers of Topsail High School, Dixon High School, and Pender Early College.
Seniors who are homeschooled or in the early college must live in the Dixon High School or Topsail High School attendance areas to participate.
According to the Historical Society of Topsail Island, applicants will be tasked with choosing a historical event that occurred in Onslow or Pender counties.
“The HSTI Education Committee evaluates each scholarship entry using a blind entry scoring rubric,” said committee Chairperson Karen Gavigan. “The Historical Society of Topsail Island scholarships are awarded on several criteria, including an unweighted 2.5 grade point average or above, student activities, and original essays or art.”
Students planning to attend a two or four-year college or trade school are encouraged to apply.
The application deadline is Feb. 14, and scholarships will be awarded at a special luncheon at the Historic Assembly Building, located at 720 Channel Boulevard in Topsail Beach.
