DuBOIS — Morgan Hoare and Lindsey Johnson are the recipients of the 2025 DuBois Area School Retirees scholarships. Both young women are members of the DuBois Area High School Class of 2025.
This is the 14th time the retired school employees have awarded two scholarships to high school graduates who will be attending college to become educators. Since 1983, 56 scholarships have been presented to area graduates who plan to major in education.
This year’s $1,000 winners were recognized by scholarship committee Co-Chairwomen Mary Lou Trzyna and Linda London at the annual spring luncheon.
Hoare plans to attend Penn West Clarion, where she will major in special education and early childhood education. While in high school, she was a member of the colorguard for the marching band, the high school rifle team, assisted with Challenger Baseball, as well as assisting at Camp Friendship. Hoare is the daughter of Ryan and Maura Hoare of Reynoldsville.
Johnson plans to attend Penn West Clarion, where she will major in special education and early childhood development.
While attending high school, Johnson was a member of Beaver Buddies, track and field, and gymnastics. She was a member of the first class in PA for teacher of tomorrow at DHS. She has also been employed at Eat-n-Park. She is the daughter of Tom and Denise Johnson of DuBois.
Applicants for the DuBois Area School Retirees Scholarship must be residents within the DuBois Area School District. They must demonstrate academic promise and be accepted into the education curriculum of an accredited four-year college or university.
