HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken High School proudly announced that Lucas Daly has been selected as a National Merit Semifinalist in the prestigious 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Four other exceptional students—Alexander Koulothros, Emily Critz, Hannah Morley, and Alison Chavez—have received a National Merit Certificate through the College Board, recognizing their impressive academic accomplishments.
These students have been named Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from Hoboken High School and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these scholastically talented seniors.
Their recognition places them among the top 50,000 students nationwide who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Robin Piccapiera, Hoboken High School Principal, stated, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Lucas Daly, Alexander Koulothros, Emily Critz, Hannah Morley, and Alison Chavez for their remarkable achievements and dedication to academic excellence, embodying the spirit of intellectual curiosity and hard work that our school strives to foster.”
A spokesperson for NMSC commented, “Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
Dr. Christine Johnson, Hoboken Public School District’s Superintendent, stated, “We could not be more proud of these outstanding students. They are now part of Hoboken High School’s rich tradition of academic excellence — one that includes last year’s National Merit Scholar and three National Merit Semifinalists.”
