The Honolulu Museum of Art’s Youth Arts Scholarship program provides free HoMA Art School tuition for students ages 3 to 18 who could not otherwise attend because of financial barriers.
The application deadline for the next round of scholarships is June 7, 2024. The Summer 2024 session will run for 10 weeks from July to September. Classes take place on Saturdays and Sundays.
The scholarship provides children with enriching art classes and connects them to the museum’s art collection, according to a news release.
At the Art School, young artists learn about drawing, painting, printmaking, fiber arts, metals, and ceramics. Artists and educators teach the classes.
The museum awards the scholarships based on financial need and a commitment to participate. A limited number of scholarships are available and are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students aged 16 to 18 are eligible to take adult level classes at the Honolulu Museum of Art School with consent from their parents or guardians.
To apply for a scholarship, individuals can submit applications in person, by mail or online.
In-person submissions can be dropped off at the Honolulu Museum of Art School between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays through Sundays.
To apply by mail, applications must be postmarked no later than June 7, 2024 and sent to:
Honolulu Museum of Art School

Awardees will be notified via phone or email by June 21, 2024 with confirmation of their enrollment. For those who are not selected, qualified applications will be considered for the next session.
