Honor Credit Union will be giving out $2,500 to 12 high school seniors in Michigan.
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) — For the 15th consecutive year, Honor Credit Union (HCU) will award a total of $30,000 in scholarships to high school seniors in its 2025-26 Community Commitment Scholarship Program.
Twelve students will receive $2,500 each to help them achieve their higher education goals.
A previous scholarship recipient and current Grand Valley State University student, Mollie Murdock, said, “Winning the Honor Credit Union Scholarship has been a huge boost for me as a STEM student. It’s helped ease the financial stress, letting me focus solely on my classes, and has given me extra motivation to keep pushing toward my education at Grand Valley.”
HCU’s origins are closely tied with education. Over 90 years ago, HCU began as Berrien Teachers Credit Union. After expanding to 28 locations across Michigan, the company continues that legacy by serving educators and students in the community.
“At Honor Credit Union, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities,” said Scott McFarland, CEO of HCU. “These scholarships are our way of helping the next generation achieve their dreams and work toward bright futures.”
Those who wish to apply for the scholarship must be a primary account holder at HCU at the time of their application and scholarship award presentation. They must also be a graduating high school senior in 2025, attending college or trade school in the fall of 2025.
The online application includes a short-form essay detailing their academic achievements and community involvement. Paper applications will not be considered.
Applications are due by Friday, March 14 at 11:59 p.m. Recipients will be notified in late April.
