The Gordon Hall III Family Foundation Scholarship Program, which was established to benefit students from Lynn and Marblehead who are entering four-year colleges, is expanding to offer $500,000 annually specifically to Lynn students, according to a community announcement.
The scholarship program was launched in 2022 with a gift from Gordon III and Taffy Knowlton Hall. A legacy gift from Gordon III, who died at age 92 in 2022, allows the scholarship to focus solely on Lynn, according to a community announcement.
Hall was a longtime owner and operator of real estate in Lynn and surrounding communities. He was also involved in charitable endeavors throughout New England, according to the announcement.
The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund, which administers the program, has granted more than $80 million to more than 5,000 students since its founding in 1991, according to the announcement. The fund began administering named scholarship programs for donor partners like the Gordon Hall III Family Foundation in 2015.
Applicants can access the scholarship application online starting in December.
