Howard Payne University student Chris Martinez, a junior kinesiology major from Brownwood, has been selected as a recipient of a CIC/UPS Scholarship provided by Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas and its national partner, the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) through its CIC/UPS Educational Endowment.
Martinez is thankful for this scholarship which will allow him to focus on academics by providing financial assistance.
“As a first-generation college student, receiving this scholarship will not only provide the financial support I need, but also serve as a significant source of encouragement and motivation,” said Martinez. “This scholarship helps me stay focused on achieving my academic and career goals. It also reminds me that God will always provide.”
Upon graduation, Martinez aspires to coach men’s basketball.
“My education at HPU will help prepare me for my future career by allowing me to grow in my faith as an adult and learn about what it takes to be a coach through research, skill development and networking opportunities,” he said.
