HUHS Senior Hailey Tomes named National Merit Scholarship semifinalist – Washington County Insider

The National Merit Scholarship Program honors the highest-scoring students in the nation on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors earn the distinction of semifinalist each year. Tomes outstanding performance has now placed her in the running for the title of National Merit Finalist and the opportunity to compete for prestigious scholarship awards.
“Hailey is an exceptional student whose dedication and determination exemplify what it means to be an Oriole,” said Ms. Kelly Lam, Principal of Hartford Union High School.
“We are incredibly proud of her achievements and excited to see the opportunities that lie ahead for her.”
Tomes will now continue in the competition for National Merit Finalist standing, with results announced in February 2026.
