Five health care professionals dedicated to serving rural Illinois recently received academic assistance through the Illinois Farm Bureau Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Program.
“These scholarships represent our deep commitment to addressing the primary care needs of underserved areas and ensuring that quality health care is accessible where it’s needed most,” said Donna Gallivan, Illinois Farm Bureau conference and program manager.
The Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Program aims to strengthen rural health care in Illinois through supporting the education of nurse practitioners who are committed to practicing in underserved areas. In return, recipients practice in an approved rural community, helping meet the primary care needs of those regions. Scholarships are funded through the Rural Illinois Medical Student Assistance Program.
The following health care professionals each received a $4,000 scholarship:
The Rural Illinois Medical Student Assistance Program, a partnership started in 1948 between the Illinois State Medical Society and IFB, has helped many qualified applicants to hurdle financial needs or borderline academic barriers to medical education.
The program has assisted over 800 students with recommendations and/or loans.
