JEFFERSON Co., Ill., (KBSI) — The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association will award over $58,000 in college scholarships to students pursuing higher education during the 2025-2026 academic year.
The scholarships, totaling more than $58,000, can be applied to tuition, books, and fees only. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time at a certified Illinois institution of higher learning, including online programs.
Sheriff J. Whipper Johnson of Saline County will award one $500 scholarship. Eligibility is open to all permanent Illinois residents, regardless of race, age, creed, color, sex or national origin.
To apply, students must:
– Be permanent Illinois residents
– Attend an Illinois institution of higher learning
– Be enrolled full-time during the 2025-2026 school year (excluding summer session)
Applications are available at local Sheriff’s offices or on the ISA website. Completed applications, essay questions, and documentation must be returned to the Sheriff’s office in the student’s permanent county of residence by March 14, 2025 [3).
