The Institute for Learning in Retirement-East, an east side senior learning program affiliated with Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, awarded three $3,000 scholarships to Baldwin Wallace University Nursing School on June 17.
The awards are for the accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program, in which three students were selected to receive the scholarship: Kaylee Eckert of Westlake, Zeinab Mohammad of Sugarland, Texas, and Hailey Crozier of Des Moines, Iowa.
“We feel strongly about supporting the next generation of nurses by providing these scholarships to students who are passionate about nursing,” Bill Rafalski, ILR-East board president and chairman of the scholarship committee, said in a news release.
The accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program is for nursing students and is an 18-month program. It includes classroom instruction and practical hospital experience, granting a registered nurse degree at completion.
All award recipients completed their undergraduate degrees in other majors, later deciding to shift their career focus to nursing. Mohammad earned her bachelor’s degree in nutrition at Dominican University in Illinois. Crozier earned her bachelor’s degree in biology and sport performance health and fitness at Saint Andrews University in North Carolina. Eckert earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Baldwin Wallace University.
