SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The International Longshore Association Chapter 1414 honored 30 students with scholarship awards for a college or vocational school of their choice.
The chapter held a gala at Union Hall to celebrate the children of chapter members and their scholarship awards. Each students received a $1,200 scholarship thanks to the dues paid by the members of the chapter.
Chapter President Paul Mosley says this year the chapter wanted to increase the amount the students received as well as the number of students honored.
“We decided to step it up a notch and give it out to more students than we have given in the past,” said president Paul Mosley.
The chapter says it plans to continue the new tradition of having a gala to present the scholarships to the students.
