As TCU grows to meet the rising number of students who aspire to be Horned Frogs, the need for endowed scholarships also increases. In fact, for many current and prospective students, scholarship support is the determining factor in whether they can achieve their dream of attending TCU.
That was the message students, donors, TCU Trustees, alumni, faculty and staff heard at the 35th Annual Scholarship Dinner in Schollmaier Arena. In attendance were many of the 1,272 TCU students who were matched to 791 named endowed scholarships this year, as well as the donors who made those scholarships possible.
“Scholarships are one of the top priorities of our university,” Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr., said. “Increasing endowed support for scholarships helps us make the TCU experience more accessible to talented, deserving and academically exceptional students like those who are with us this evening.”
TCU students with endowed scholarships can focus less on paying for college and more on building the knowledge and confidence they need to make a positive impact in the world, he added.
One of those endowed scholarship recipients is Anna Anders, a dance major from Fort Smith, Arkansas, who holds the T. Michael Reed Memorial Scholarship and is a member of the John V. Roach Honors College.
“Your generosity has given me the opportunity to walk onto TCU’s campus each day and do what I love in an uplifting, supportive and inspiring environment,” she said. “It is because of people like you that I am given the foundation to excel.
President Daniel W. Pullin recognized 26 new scholarships that were awarded for the first time during the 2024-2025 academic year as well as donors of the 24 endowed TCU scholarships that will be awarded for the first time during the 2025-2026 academic year.
He referenced the university’s new strategic plan, LEAD ON: Values in Action, when explaining the importance of endowed scholarships. That plan details the growth of enrollment to approximately 14,900 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students by 2035 while preserving TCU’s exceptional student experience, 14:1 student/faculty ratio and the academic quality of incoming scholars.
“Endowed scholarships are critical to this bold, innovative plan,” he said. “They encourage promising and exemplary students, who need our support, to fulfill their potential and make a difference in the world.”
