The Lily of The Valley Foundation has awarded its annual scholarship to Jackson Blackwell, a graduating senior of Hopewell Valley Central High School and Assunpink Vocational School, who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to both skilled trades and public service.
Now in its second year, the scholarship supports students pursuing non-traditional career paths. Jackson exemplifies that mission. He will continue his education at Pennco Tech in Bristol, PA, enrolling in the Welding Program where he will gain hands-on experience in various welding techniques and fabrication. He is also employed by DVP Construction, where he continues to develop his technical skills through real-world experience.
In addition to his vocational training, Jackson is deeply committed to public safety. He recently earned his New Jersey State Fire Fighter I Certification, qualifying him to serve as a firefighter in the state. As a volunteer member of the Pennington Fire Company, he actively responds to emergencies ranging from fires and vehicle accidents to public safety incidents.
Jackson’s drive is rooted in personal resilience. After losing his father to cancer in 2021, he has channeled that loss into motivation—pursuing a future built on service, skill, and determination, following closely in his father’s footsteps.
The Lily of The Valley Foundation was established in memory of Lily Carroll, a young woman whose love of floral design and creativity continues to inspire others. The foundation’s scholarship program provides financial support to Hopewell Valley Central High School seniors who excel in Co-Op and Work Based Learning Programs, helping them pursue careers or businesses in vocational fields after graduation.
